How we helped
Trinity provided environmental noise services to assess and monitor noise emissions from the construction of a new water pipeline extending from Quota Park, Bigger Waters to South Stradbroke Island. The construction works, referred to as the Broadwater Crossing Replacement, formed part of the Gold Coast City Council’s Long-Term Recycled Water Release Plan.
Trinity was involved in the early phases of planning by conducting a noise assessment and preparing a noise management plan for the construction works. This involved undertaking background noise monitoring to establish noise levels prior to construction works, which provided a basis for establishing suitable construction noise criteria.
We then completed noise modelling to predict the impacts of construction works on nearby sensitive uses, including high-rise apartment buildings. We prepared a noise management plan detailing practical mitigation and management measures to minimise impacts to the surrounding area.
During the construction phase, Trinity maintained two noise instruments along the boundary of the site for a 1-year period. The instruments were configured to send SMS alerts when pre-defined noise thresholds were exceeded. These alerts provided guidance to site personnel as to the potential for elevated construction noise levels and whether further noise management was required.
Through this project, Trinity applied the full breadth of its noise expertise and skills in computational modelling, mitigation solution identification and long-term monitoring applications, demonstrating the value of our comprehensive noise services.
About the project
The Gold Coast City Council’s Long-Term Recycled Water Release Plan was established to upgrade the Council’s existing recycled water release system at the Southport Seaway. The plan involved a range of upgrades including new pump stations, upgraded release points and new pipelines. The pipelines formed a major part of the works, with two underwater pipelines extending from Quota Park to South Stradbroke Island, and from Southport to Main Beach.
